Funds from the sale of this plate, allows GOIA to fund $500.00 scholarships for Louisiana Indian College Students .The Louisiana Indian Education Advocacy Committee (LIEAC) is a working committee under the Office of Indian Affairs (OIA). One of the goals of LIEAC was to get a bill for a American Indian prestige license plate to establish a scholarship fund for the American Indian students of Louisiana. On July 12, 1999, the Governor signed HB 406 establishing such a plate.
